端午の節句(5月5日)に、男子の健やかなる成長を願い鎧や兜を飾る風習は、社寺への武具の奉納
に由来する。鉄地に籠手や鞭を彫り込んだ図柄は、縁起よく好まれた。
明珍家は鎌倉期より繁栄した甲冑師の一派で、鐔製作にもその技量を発揮した。
江戸時代後期。保存鑑定書付。

The custom which decorates an armor and helmet on every May 5th (Boy’s Festival) is for hoping
children will grow up with courage and wisdom.
Design of gauntlet and whip were carved and depicted by Myochin Munetada.
Myochin School thrived as an armor maker, and also made a Tsuba with their fine technique of
handling iron. Hozon certificate paper. 19c.

2) 目貫 弓矢図 無銘

弓矢は戦闘での実用性に優れた一方、様々な儀礼や祭事に用いられた。細部まで丁寧に彫り込み、
金色絵で上品に仕上げている。江戸時代中期。

Bow and arrows is so useful in the battle, on the other hand, was used of the various rituals and
festivals. The details are carved by fine workmanship and the colored technique increase its
decorativeness. 18c.
3)鐔 宇治川合戦図 会津正阿弥 (無銘)

寸法:縦85.0×横79.0×厚さ4.5 (mm) 
武士の勇ましさを描写した合戦図は、人気画題の一つで刀装具の画題に多く用いられた。
源義経が京の木曽義仲を攻めた宇治川の戦い(1184年)で、勇猛な武者が川を渡り敵陣に向かう場面。
鉄地に赤銅据文象嵌で武者を配し、立体感を表している。室町末期に京で興った正阿弥派が、会津に
移り連綿と活躍した。江戸時代中期-後期。保存鑑定書付。

A battle scene of the Uji River in Kyoto (1184) between Minamoto Yoshitsune and Kiso Yoshinaka.
A brave Samurai who is Yoshitsune’s side, is crossing the river to advance the enemy camp. The
Samurai which was made of Shakudo on the iron ground, is depicted by Aizu Sho’ami School who
was originally come from Kyoto and active in Aizu (Fukushima Pref.) uninterruptedly. 18-19c.

4) 馬具透図 銘 江府住並寿

寸法:縦72.0×横68.0 ×厚さ5.0 (mm)
刀と同様、名馬を持つことは武士の誉れであり、装飾馬具にも優品が備えられた。
巧みに図案化された鞍(くら)と鐙(あぶみ)に菊花紋を配し、洗練した構図に仕上げている。
並寿は江戸本所に住した江戸後期の人気工。保存鑑定書付。 

As well as swords, having a good horse is honor for the samurai, and decorative harness of fine
finishing also was equipped. Skillfully designed stirrup and saddle with the chrysanthemum crest is
so stylish composition. Namitoshi was active in Honjo area of Edo in 19c. Hozon certificate paper.

5) 小柄 茗荷に白魚図 無銘 河野派
Design of a whitebait with Japanese ginger by Kono School.
寸法:縦15.0×横98.0 (mm) 
解説:四分一磨地に白魚を高彫りで彫り上げ、据紋象嵌で茗荷を配した面白い画題。
隅田川の白魚漁は江戸の風物の一つ。
徳川家康が大変好み、家康存命中は御止魚(おとめうお)と呼ばれ漁が規制され、献上品として珍重
された。
江戸時代後期。

Whitebait with Japanese ginger is depicted skillfully by a metal maker in Kono School. Fishing of
whitebait in the Sumida River is one of seasonable sceneries in Edo. Tokugawa Ieyasu
(the 1st shogun in Edo period) loves whitebait which was prized as an Offering, so its fishing is
regulated for a while. 19c. Hozon certificate.
