桜花が水面をまとまって覆う姿を筏に見立て、花筏とした意匠は優美な春の情感を表している。
鎌倉彫りに酷似した特徴から同名に極められた本作は、唐草文様も施した優品。

Elegant spring scenery of cherry blossoms covering the water surface like
raft is called Hana-ikada. Such style Tsuba is called Kamakura which is
similar to its carving. With Hozon certificate paper. circa 1600

桜花に筏を添えた花筏文は着物などにも用いられ、優美な春の情感が味わえる。
赤銅地全面に桜花と筏をバランス良く組み合わせ、緻密に入る金色絵が上品である。
江戸時代中-後期。桐箱付。

coloring parts are elegant.

桜花に網の組み合わせは、謡曲「桜川」を図案化したと伝わる。日向国の少年「桜子」が
貧しい母を助ける為に自身を人買いに売り、その後常陸国の桜川に行き着き、当地で僧の
弟子となる。一方、子を失った悲しみで物狂いとなった母もその行方を尋ね旅に出る。
春に当地へ辿り着き、川を流れる桜花を網で掬いながら嘆いていたところ、その奇行を
耳にした子と念願の再会を果たし共に故郷へと帰る親子愛の物話。桜花を陰陽に透かし
耳に金象嵌を細かく施した技巧品。
江戸時代中期。保存鑑定書付。
Design of cherry blossoms with net is telling Sakuragawa of Noh program
which is
story of parent-child love. Sakura-go who sold himself to human trafficker
for helping
his poor mother,reached the Sakuragawa River in Hitachi several years later,
and
becamea pupil of priest. On one hand, his mother who knew that, was overwhelmed
by grief and looked for him.
She also came to the river in the season of cherry blossoms, and was scooping
floating
petals using a net after she lost her mind. This strange behavior helped
her to encounter his son, and went back to their hometown together. Higo
School
was thriving under powerful feudal lord, Hosokawa family inHigo (Kumamoto Pref.).
